Sometimes I have to face facts: I have a good life. While a myriad of my neighbors spend their Saturdays doing yard work I get to hang out and yuck it up with my SCM neighbors and meet new people. Don't get me wrong, I also do yard work - just every other weekend much to the chagrin of my wife! The way I see it, Jesus told me to live life to the full and I intend to do just that. The pics above remind me that I am not the only one. Some of our neighbors live on the street in tents, some have a roof but are in tough situations; regardless of their lot I saw people playing, sharing a meal, creating, and roasting each other out of camaraderie.
Christine was back with her beau Jamie to create a new sign and show the kids how to shed some light through art. Alex was revealing the truths of the universe. Malik and I had an amazing conversation about how he and his college buddies teach teens leadership skills through sports - naturally he and I will be talking about how to take MMOG to the next level. We even had a woman come by and ask if she could set up a table and give out her homemade natural juices! She revealed that her husband is a DJ, so we're looking forward to taking the "pahtay" up a notch.
Thank you as always to the Hope Vibes volunteers who sign up to serve and a special shout out to Earl for getting the truck down there and spending the day with us!
I crushed it playing cornhole this week, but alas, I still lost - there's some real skill at that corner.
The SCM doesn't happen without your support - if your group would like to host a weekend, contact us and we'll get back with you ASAP.
Feeling left out? Don't! Meet us at the Street Corner on September 1st. See you there!
