This week we did something new for us...we worked in tandem as equal partners with a few different orgs who all came together to love up on our Freedom Corridor homeless and low income neighbors. It was amazing to see how much more could be accomplished with all those hearts giving in perfect harmony..and I can't remember that last time I had that much fun! Here's a video of all the joy that was on display.
Our hope-giving friends, Emmanuel and Earl, from Hope Vibes joined us as always to provide showers and laundry - and we had a few new people enjoy the truck. I am pretty sure I even saw Earl bust a move or two.
Speaking of busting moves, DJ Adrian Reid "The Beatbox Kid" (see picture above) spin tunes that not only got the kids showing off but even the adults were grooving to the best of 80's and recent hits. Adrian has promised to come back from time to time. You can watch the fly girls of A Giving Heart Project as they serve up a feast for all senses - thanks for joining us!
A Giving Heart Project showed up huge with a truckload of warm clothes (and quite stylish actually) that will keep our neighbors warm this winter. Jamie was so fired up that he insisted I take a picture of him with his new fleece (see above).
Also joining us was Angela from Mental Health America of Central Carolinas , an org handing out free government issue cell phones with plans, and an org providing COVID booster vaccines. If our neighbors had a need there was someone there to meet it.
A big thank you to Home Church from Denver, NC! They brought out about 20 volunteers of all ages to help clean the truck, hand out supplies, unload the trucks, and even sorted the remaining clothes and bought us much needed bins! They came with a heart to give and that they did!
The SCM doesn't happen without your support - if your group would like to host a weekend or if you know of a business owner who might like to join us to offer their services or products, contact us and we'll get back with you ASAP.
Feeling left out? Don't! Meet us at the Street Corner on December 3rd. See you there!
