Another incredible Saturday at the Street Corner Ministry! We served about 120 meals, gave out about 100 supply bags, maxed out our time doing laundry, had a new volunteer group help out, and Raul the barber stepped up his game with some pumping music through his new speaker system and free pizza!
It's always great to have the regulars stop by for a shower and laundry from Hope Vibes, get some health services from our on site partner Quality Comprehensive healthcare, get trimmed by the coolest barber in Charlotte, and of course sit with us for the best grill in the area while they fill us in on how things are going in their lives.
Thank you to the River Church for bringing some unexpected volunteers and for praying with our neighbors!
Raul has quickly become the coolest part of our community building efforts because he brings his fun energy, his top level talent, and even his family! We're unworthy to have him join us, but we know our neighbors are not - he is exactly what they need.
Of course fun is only one part of what this community is about. Many who stop by are in deep emotional pain and need hope. I met a woman who was crying and in need of a ride to escape a really bad situation. Without any hesitation or thought to their own welfare, Tina and Dichelle took off the gloves they were using to serve food, gained this woman's trust, and they jumped in the car offering comfort along the way! This one act epitomized the spirit in which we embrace in this community; we don't know who God will bring us and why, but we can love all who come. Thank you for showing us all the love of Jesus, Tina and Dichelle.
In just a matter of months God has continued to surprise us with how many neighbors are willing to join the community and share their lives with us, he has provided 3 on site partners offering various services, and small groups hosting supply drives and volunteering on Saturdays to provide for the poor - we even got wind of a cornhole tournament that will take place next month to help us out with supplies! Tim and I feel unworthy to be amongst such generous and loving people.
Of course, the larger the community we serve gets, the more food and supplies we need - if your group would like to host a weekend, contact us and we'll get back with you ASAP.
Feeling left out? Don't! Meet us at the Street Corner on June 4th. See you there!

Debra Bunker - Cabarrus Knot/Crochet/Sew Charity Group- hello. Reaching out again to get a list of the type of supplies we can make for you. Knit/crochet soap bags! Wash clothes? Hats, scarves, blankets? Please let us know. I would like to add your ministry to our FB group as a group we assist.
